What We Do For Farmers & Ranchers

Real Estate

Buying, selling, or leasing real estate can be complicated and lack of legal representation can result in serious real estate problems lasting many years. Too often we have been involved in situations where proper legal representation at the beginning of a real estate transaction could have prevented costly legal headaches. Transactions involving farm and ranch real estate often involve unique considerations regarding future development, old surveys, access, environmental impacts, water rights, right to farm, adjacent development and gentrification, and oil and gas production. We represent buyers and sellers of farm and ranch real estate. Our real estate practice group includes attorneys board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in farm and ranch real estate.

Oil & Gas

Like real estate in general, oil & gas matters can be complicated, and lack of legal representation can have serious financial repercussions. We represent landowners regarding leasing minerals, pipeline easements, and protection of their surface real estate. We represent oil & gas companies as they lease, develop, finance, and market minerals. We also prepare and review mineral title opinions. The head of our oil & gas practice group is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in oil, gas, and mineral law.

Estate Planning & Probate

We offer estate planning packages for individuals and married couples. We design and implement customized estate plans to provide for the orderly passing of assets to beneficiaries according to the client’s wishes, protect clients if they become incapacitated, and protect minor children and persons with special needs. Estate planning packages may include wills, powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney, directives to physicians, HIPAA releases, declarations of guardian for the person and minor children, revocable trusts, supplemental needs trusts, Lady Bird deeds, transfer on death deeds, beneficiary designations for non-probate assets, family limited partnerships, buy-sell agreements, stock purchase agreements, cash incentive plans, assignments of stock and interests, deferred compensation plans, and other estate planning documents as needed.
